Raised between New England and Northern California, Jess Meyer developed an eclectic style honed by travel and bi-costal living. Before attending the School of Fashion Design in Boston, Jess developed her aesthetic by welding constructivist metal sculpture, fabricating fine art, and art directing for film and television. The unique coupling of sculptural training combined with an ability to create a fantasy world in production design sparked Jess’s desire to create a line of clothes with a strong tailored silhouette and detailed architectural elements. With the incorporation of Myre in 2005, Jess is able to deliver her vision of another world in a wearable form.
Her training in French draping and couture finishes at the School of Fashion Design has given Jess the foundation to create every Myre pattern. With a desire to conceive unique pieces from beautiful textiles, she has a hand in every element of production. Beginning by draping or tailoring the patterns, Jess then selects natural fiber fabrics of vintage or repurposed origin from her extensive fabric library. All cuts and stitches are produced locally in Boston.
Myre pieces flatter the figure with architectural drape and old-world hand-finished tailoring hewn in natural fibers. The unexpected details of appliqued leather or a transformative collar define a Myre piece. Drawing inspiration from the interplay of texture and graphic vintage fabrics, Jess sculpts classic silhouettes in modern limited-edition fabrications. |
